J Something's Johannesburg journey began on a Sandton rooftop in 2010. Sleeping at his cousin's couch with a marketing degree and no plan, the Portugal-born musician asked a DJ if he could freestyle over house beats. Another kid with a trumpet showed up that night and three months later, they wrote "These Streets." The song won Song of the Year at the South African Music Awards and put Mi Casa on the map. Fourteen years on, that spontaneous moment defined everything – the band, the wife Coco he met through bandmate Mo-T, and a city that thrives on hustle.
