Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Snellville, Georgia, María Zardoya’s eclectic taste in music started young. Influenced in equal measure by Puerto Rican reggaeton; country music; and the melodies of R&B; María never set out to write music in one genre, or even in one language. Using her winnings from a Halloween dress-up contest to buy a car, María then drove from Georgia to Los Angeles to pursue her musical ambition. She met drummer Josh Conway at a gig and they quickly formed The Marías. After a rocky start, María now has a deep love for Los Angeles and its unique natural surroundings.
