John C. JAY

The son of Chinese immigrants, John C Jay grew up in Ohio, USA, learning English from identifying the brands in car ads. Today he has risen to be the creative director of Bloomingdale’s, the leading light at legendary creative agency Wieden+Kennedy, and, most recently, the president of global creative for UNIQLO – roles that have taken him and his imagination around the world. With bases of operations in New York, Portland and Tokyo, he continues to extend his influence to millions. We spoke with John about his creative life in Japan, the intersection of travel and creativity, and where he finds inspiration in Tokyo.
