Guided by her global outlook and cross-cultural narratives, instrumentalist and composer Mindy Meng Wang has redefined the parameters of traditional Chinese music. It was her culturally diverse upbringing in China’s Lanzhou city, followed by studying in the UK, touring throughout Europe and a move to Melbourne that inspired Mindy to expand the physical and melodic parameters of the traditional string instrument, the Guzheng. This bold pursuit has seen Mindy forge an inimitable musical style resonating with audiences the world over. Her incredible expression of courage and multicultural enlightenment has seen her play with postmodern monoliths Gorillaz in London, Australian rock outfit Regurgitator, and at numerous international art festivals.
