Photographer Tiago Sales travels the world in search of images that tell stories, but his hometown Lisbon is his ultimate muse.

Lapa

"Lapa is a super quiet area with beautiful buildings that’s not completely full of tourists. It’s on top of a small hill so you get sun right until sunset. The architecture is pretty awesome."

"Oyster & Margarita serves cocktails and small dishes. It's a nice place where a lot of people hang out — and you can see the sunset start in Lisbon while the nightlife begins right there."

"Principe Real is an amazing area. Just walk around and get lost in the streets and you'll find small shops, bars and restaurants here and there in really beautiful places."

Belém

Neighbourhood
Belém, Portugal
Belém

"Belém has a lot of different monuments, but I especially like the residential part of it because this area doesn't have big buildings — it's like all small houses with small gardens. So it's nice to like to run away a little bit from the city center and into different stuff."

Almada

City
Almada, Portugal
Almada

"The other side of the river is not actually Lisbon, but Lisbon is very connected with it. We go there a lot, because it has the beaches and all the sun. I always like to take the boat there at sunrise because you can catch a lot of people going to work — It's always amazing to capture that light in the boat or the station."
