Sauna Deco

Spa
Herengracht 115A, 1015 BE Amsterdam, Netherlands
Sauna Deco

"The Sauna Deco is an iconic wellness space in Amsterdam. It’s quite old school, but really special because it has all this art deco design inside. You have all these different temperature saunas in this communal space and you've got to be totally nude — which of course was a shock when I first moved to Amsterdam, but you kind of get used to it and get over yourself."

Hotel De Goudfazant

Restaurant
Aambeeldstraat 30, 1021 KB Amsterdam, Netherlands
Hotel De Goudfazant

"Another favorite is Hotel De Goudfazant. It’s a restaurant in the north of Amsterdam in a very cool, oversized hangar industrial space. Get a water taxi there from Central Station in Amsterdam and it takes you all the way to the restaurant. It's quite a brasserie, simple dining."

@droog Amsterdam

Gallery, cafe & events
Staalstraat 7B, 1011 JJ Amsterdam, Netherlands
@droog Amsterdam

"Droog is a shop, a cafe and, most recently, also a hotel with a couple of rooms. They feature the latest and greatest in avant–garde Dutch design. They also have products you can buy, like three–legged chairs or really odd, beautiful, unconventional design."

Vondelpark

Park
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Vondelpark

"Vondelpark is the biggest, most central park Amsterdam and it’s really worth going. It’s got a very historical relevance with the counterculture movement in the 60s and 70s — everyone would congregate and take mushrooms. There are flower gardens and a cafe in the middle called the Blue Tea Room, which looks like a UFO. You can go in there, get some fresh mint tea and hang out."

EYE Filmmuseum

Museum
IJpromenade 1, 1031 KT Amsterdam, Netherlands
EYE Filmmuseum

"The EYE Museum is a relatively new space across a body of water called the River IJ. It’s a really amazing film museum and cinema right on the water and has a really funky, weird architectural design. You can go there to watch movies but they also have film festivals and exhibitions."

Rika Studios

Store
Oude Spiegelstraat 12, 1016 BM Amsterdam, Netherlands
Rika Studios

"Rika is a fashion boutique in the center of the Nine Streets, which are shopping streets in Amsterdam that are nice to explore. It has really lovely knitwear and designs that feel to me like classic Amsterdam — kind of elevated but wearable fashion."
