Johannesburg-born multi-talented actress, writer, director, and producer Cariba Heine was named after Lake Kariba and South Africa is part of her through and through. Her love for Cape Town runs deep. Based in Australia since childhood, she keeps strong ties to the city where most of her family relocated and where summers left lasting memories. For Cariba, each return reinforces the power of South Africans’ stories, the warmth and resilience they carry. Her recent visit was an immersion into everything else that brings her joy: from the best pap and vleis she’s had outside a family home to flame-grilled braai, wine tours, shark diving and sunset cable cars.
