"If I had a friend visiting LA for a day, I'd start by heading out along the (Pacific Coast Highway) PCH, making my way towards Malibu, stopping out at Topanga and having a surf there. Topanga was always a great sort of shape wave and fun to surf when you get the right kind of swell coming in."

"Hinano Café near the Venice Beach pier is a great place to have a beer and get to know the local crew. There's sawdust on the ground, a couple of pool tables, and great yarns. It's just the fun grassroots kind of bar experience."
