German photographer Martin Lindner captures the contrasts that make Singapore extraordinary: rainbow-colored colonial buildings, tranquil lakeside gardens in the heart of urban density, and that soft morning skyline that feels like coming home. Through his lens, Singapore's picture-perfect spots are revealed with authenticity and soul.

Between shoots, you'll find him at traditional kopitiams with local friends. For Martin, every return visit means discovering something new, but it's the familiar warmth – and at least one plate of kaya toast – that keeps drawing him back.

“I’ve walked past this building so many times, and every time I look at it, I’m just like, wow, it looks so nice. I really like how they keep it fresh and modern – it’s always super clean too."

"Fort Canning Park was actually my number one spot when I first came to Singapore – I didn’t know anyone, got lost trying to find it, but ended up loving the walk. The spiral staircase photo spot is super touristy now. It's still a great spot, just go early on a weekday, that’s the best time to get a clean shot of the lookup."

“I do love the peaceful vibe of Merlion Park in the morning. There’s no rush – you don’t get that same energy as Chinatown or the business district. It’s more of a calm, quiet morning walk around the Bay Area. I like staying nearby, so when I actually find the motivation to go out and shoot, this is usually my first stop.”

"It’s such a nice space to explore, especially if you’re already in the area. It’s not usually on the typical tourist path, which is kind of a shame, but I think that’s also what makes it special. It's a bit outside the city, so you really have to want to go there and enjoy the park."

“It’s a nice place to stay, they have a huge pool area. I want to explore more that area next time. Every time I visit Singapore, I try to explore a new neighbourhood – lately more of the outskirts. I’m also planning to check out Ang Mo Kio for its evening vibe or Geylang, which feels very local and different. That’s why I keep coming back – there’s always something new to see beyond the usual spots."

“This place really stands out from the rest of the neighbourhood. The building’s stunning from the outside and a Singapore gem – great example of how Singapore connects architecture with green spaces. It’s a really nice hotel too. I was so happy to stay there this time and actually see more of it beyond just the street view. It was awesome.”
